Petra Kvitova won quality battle against Julia Goerges to secure 2-0 lead for Czech republic over Germany
After Iveta Benesova's surprising victory against Sabine Lisicki, Kvitova could be less nervous than her opponent. But it was Goerges who was more relaxed, winning important points. Kvitova lost her serve in 4th game, broke back directly and leveled to 3-3. But Goerges saved 2 breakpoints in the next game, broke Kvitova and took the fist serve.
Very good service games were coming from Kvitova in 2nd set. She played patiently and broke Goerges' serve and gained the second with the same score as Goerges won the first - 6-3.
Huge battle started in final set. Kvitova was the first who broke opponent in seventh Tilden's game but made few errors at 4-3 and 40-15 enabling Goerges to break back.
Kvitova was close to defeat at 4-5 and 0-30 but played very careful hard shots to level. Looked like easy win for her when she broke Goerges in next game to get 6-5 lead.
But it was definitely not an easy match at any stage and Kvitova lost her serve and next Goerges's service game both to love.
Deciding was finally that at 8-8. Goerges served with new balls and new balls brought critacally important break in every new balls game. No difference now, Kvitova broke Goerges and served it out to 10-8 final set victory.
Top quality aggressive tennis and big drama, both girls were great.

Petra Kvitova reached her first grandslam semifinal outside Wimbledon
After brave tough fight Petra Kvitova won over Sara Errani in Australian Open quarterfinal.
The match brought two different tennis styles contest. While Kvitova likes to play her typical aggressive flat hard shots what is the reason she is in czech jokes called "Butcher girl from Fulnek", Errani produces slow lifted game with deep and suprising placement. Kvitova changed her tactics with not so hard serving and tried to level to Errani's game, it was tough for her but she finally succeeded what shows she is great player now.
Kvitova started with breaking Errani's serve but then lost her own. She broke Errani in the third game too and when broke in the seventh game again it looked on easy first set win since most of the games were long and close. But she lost the confidence and two games in the row. She had plenty of work to won the rallies at 5-4 but finally she did it and took the first set 6-4.
Kvitova broke in the first game of the second set but the unforced errors became growing and fighting Errani became better and better, winning few close games. It definitelly looked the match would go into decider when Kvitova was 1-4 and 0-30 down. But she held and broke Errani in the next game. Then probably Errani lost her faith she could win and Kvitova was overplaying her to finish the set 6-4 too.

Great battle in Hisense Arena
Petra Kvitova started yet better as in first round.
She quickly broke in third game, saved breakpoint in next game and with another break in the seventh game took first set easily 6-2.
But Carla Suarez Navarro started to play perfect baseline error free tennis and took Kvitova under pressure. Suarez Navarro broke Kvitova in second game, won 8 from 10 games from start of the second set to leading 2-0 in the third.
Kvitova looked terrified and the unforced errors became more and more frequent from her. Her baseline game started to be too slow and careful because of error fear.
Probably decisive game was the third game of third set, Suarez Navarro confirming break from previous game at 2-0. Suarez Navarro started to be little tired but still had gamepoint on uncertain Kvitova. But Kvitova was fighting heavily for each point and finally broke back.
From this moment Kvitova started to believe she wins the match finally. She broke Suarez at 2-2 once again.
Another crucial moment for Kvitova was when she was serving at 4-3. She played outstanding backhand winner from tough position at 0-30 and surprised Suarez Navarro with an ace to forehand at 30-30 when she was mostly serving to the middle Suarez's backhand side from right side of the court.
It was the last possibility for Suarez Navarro to turn the match once again. Kvitova served it out comfortably at 5-4.
Great battle and through many errors still lots of outstanding winners and good tactical tennis from both players.
